The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River, the main distributary of the Ganges, under construction in Bangladesh.
The first Asphalt rolling of the Padma multipurpose bridge began on 13th July 2021 by Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project (MBEC-5).
Asphalt work was completed at the 40th end of the Janjira end of the Padma Bridge. First, a layer of waterproof bitumen (10 m wide and 60 m long) is laid on the slab of the bridge before pouring the pitch. As a result, the slabs will not be damaged by rainwater.
A Paver / Asphalt finisher, 2 drum rollers, 2 tire rollers, 2 tandem rollers, and 4 dump trucks were brought here to complete this work.
The asphalt mixers were brought in 4 drum trucks. The model of these 4 dump trucks is SINOTRUK HOWO 336 4×6. The asphalt mixers were brought from a nearby PDL plant.
First the asphalt mixer from the dump truck was poured over the paver.
The paver machine is spreading the asphalt mixer according to the prescribed size and thickness. XPMG’s RP953 model paver has been used for asphalt finishing, which is one of the largest paver machines in Bangladesh.
After spreading the asphalt with the paver machine, the asphalt was pressed evenly with 2 drum rollers. These drum rollers are XCMG – XD123.
The asphalt on the side of the bridge has been pressed with 2 Tandem Rollers, the model of these Tandem Rollers is XCMG – XMR083.
At last, two tire rollers are used to smoothing the asphalt. The tire rollers models are XCMG XP103 and XCMG XP163 respectively.
Many engineers were involved in getting this work done. A few days later on this 60mm thick asphalt will be given another 40mm thick asphalt. As a result, the total thickness will be 100mm.
Padma Bridge is one of the largest projects in Bangladesh. To complete this project. Among all the heavy construction equipment that are being used to finish this project, XCMG’s construction equipment is one of them.
